There's never a dull moment with Garret. A reliable and inspiring role model to look up to. Outside the command, I'm grateful to be able to call him a friend. I wholeheartedly believe Garret had lived a fulfilling life with his cheery persona and curiosity for knowledge.
Not sure if Mama Kwek knew, but I remember Garret brought his baby daughter to skateboard together many years ago lol (rest assured he took extra care) This guy has a hidden talent for kick flips!
You will be greatly missed.
Malcolm Lek
Garret, you are always the easy go lucky person when I ever I see you. You always have the smile on your face just like the one on this photo. Now I am going to miss this whenever I go to your office or back to work.
Hope you will continue your smile up there in your new found home. Rest in peace my dear friend and comrade.

Thank you for the times where you lent me a listening ear.
Thank you for all the times you were there more than just a colleague but a brother to all.
Thank you for leaving your footprints in my life and for all the memories we have shared.
I wish nothing but the best for you. May you rest in peace and be forever wearing that silly smile on your face. Till we meet again.

Thank you for the journey as a friend, a mentor, and a well-respected team leader. No words can describe our loss. Your brain works perfectly fine when you told me about your logical flow and steps which is required from the start to the end of a process. I might not have agreed to everything but there isn’t a perfect plan in this world, and we know it.
You have always been a thinker and performed what was required to the best of your ability. Indeed, not many that I have come across will have such strong willpower and sheer determination. Moreover, your charisma within your personality is something unique. Hats off my friend.
I pray that as you completed your earthly journey, you may find eternal peace and happiness that is waiting for you. Take care, my friend. With deepest sympathy to your family.

3 days ago, we were still talking and laughing as usual. You were always a happy-go-lucky person. This came all too sudden, I will always remember the moments we shared in ssp. Wish I can hear your off tune 告白气球 again.
You will be missed and remembered, I am sure you are in a better place now. Rest In Peace my brother in arms.

Will never forget all your guidance and advice during the SPDS trainer days. You have always been a great mentor and a better friend to us. Will always remember how happy and cheerful you are in the office and doing stupid things with us. Rest in peace WO Garret.

To be able to face the unknown and last through the tough times, all while having that signature smile on your face. That’s something I will always remember you for.
Continue to smile on us from above, while we pray for you and your beautiful family.

I had worked with Garret for only 6 months but he had left a deep and inspiring impression more than anyone else that I had worked longer. Truthfully, during these few months of working together, I felt that I had learnt from him more than any other guy. Garret is steadfast, discipline and highly motivated and supportive.
Garret is a learner, mentor, excellent team player and a great friend. He is a endless sponge that would like to pick up new skills and knowledge. He is not tired to share meaningful lessons with anyone. He could lead anything but will allow his peers to take the center stage and support them unwaveringly from behind.
He is always composed, readily to provide concise and well thought through thinking processes and solutions. Not once or twice but always.
Today, my good friend left me but my memories of him and his cheerful smile will always have a place in my heart. God bless your family and love ones.
Eugene Song
You always wanted to be a wallflower. But you are always the sunflower everywhere you go. You just never realised everybody wants a piece of you, and how important you were to many of us.
Your non-chalent professionalism and presence always makes the most difficult moments seemed like nothing, but you always takes everything seriously and with crazy standards.
Your life is a gift to many of us. And I will treasure the memories we shared. Especially the goofy moments when we bumped into each other.
We all know you were always thinking for others wherever you are, and you never once allowed anyone to help you with your stuff.
Now, leave the rest to us, brother. May you be at peace. Until we meet again. Keep your silly smile when I see you again.
一路走好.

As a fellow MP brother and a friend, you strike me as an exemplary person doing your very best in all circumstances. It has only been a week since we had a great conversation about your experience in the ranger course.
It shall be etched in my memories and you will be remembered for life. You really have gone too soon bro, rest in peace and 一路走好兄弟. Till we meet again.

Garret remains a friend who I could rely, trust and count on. He is someone who I had respected greatly in the time I knew him. I admired how he faced every situation and problem with his steely determination, never letting what seemed to be the biggest of obstacles faze him. He made sure to let you know that he always had your back - regardless of the situation.
I hope that you are in a better place now.
Thank you for the laughter, joy, camaraderie and most importantly, for the friendship.

A fine senior and an even finer soldier. Never fail to perform and puts in the work and effort to guide us to the proper standards. You will be dearly missed.

Garret, thanks for being a brother who can always be counted on. I never forget how we first come across each other during our SPDS Course 10 years ago, follow by Spec Advance Course. I knew it is a start of a wonderful and colourful brotherhood.
Facing each other during parade rehearsal, causing both of us to laugh and almost forgetting what is the next drill.
Never will I forget how I joke with you on Mr coconut waiting for u to come office and how fast u switch your face from training mode to brother mode in a split second. Your Professionalism and commitment is second to none.
Brother, 谢谢你带给我们兄弟们欢乐. We really miss you so much and know you will be watching over us up in the sky.
Till we meet again brother.

Garret, you have always been the light to my shadow, the strength to my weaknesses. We made such a great team way back since DB days where we were young and foolish, searching our way through this “signed on” life we chose, to being my support fire and my rear guard during our slightly more experienced CP days.
You’ve been there to always help me carry the burden and share the load, that’s why I hate you, I hate that you robbed me of the chance to bear this load with you. I hate that you left too soon and left me to walk the remaining journey without you. When I meet you again, I’m gonna sit you down and you’re gonna endure everything I’m gonna throw at you. I will fill you in on everything you missed. Till I see you again.
Bryan Lim
Garret, thanks for the wonderful memories. Always smiling, always laughing at our silly jokes. Whenever I call you to have a nonsensical chat or an important work discussion, you will always listen and try your best to get it done.
If there is an afterlife, may we meet again and continue our friendship. Farewell, my friend.

The uniform picture was diligently produced by Garret for publicity. He meticulously edited his picture unconditionally upon request. This was his attitude as a great friend and colleague. He not just influence us, he inspire us to do better. We will remember your Pride, Dignity and Professionalism.

Garret, you're more than a friend to me. You're a dear brother, a mentor, a guy who I can share everything under the sun. Share about ways to tekan and how we tekan. You bring me to the local food while I bring you the local food in jb. Our 4 person but 9 dishes in restoran todak, how we force ourselves to finish the food because we order without thinking. I'll never forget the days we meet up, for work, for leisure and everything else. Just last week we just talked about our work and personal life. And now you just left all of a sudden, it definitely break my heart. I pray and hope that you're in a better place now. You're deeply missed.

A person who sets memory everywhere you go. You will always be remembered brother.
Knew you when you were a junior specialist, you never failed to give your best to your client you engaged. 10 odd years had pass and this good traits had never change in you. You were a good coach when I went for course under you, good teaching and learning.
You are a good teacher and a good friend, 一路走好朋友,you will dearly remembered.

Garret, You are the best friend, colleague and comrade that one can ever ask. Always doing everything to the best of your effort, you have shown me how committed and dedicated that one could be. And you have always put everyone before yourself, I have never heard you saying "no" to any request before.
From eating, doing ops to doing pt and talking about everything under the sun together. The time we spent together will be the fondest memories that I will keep with me.
May you find peace finally. Till we see each other again bro.

Only knew you for a short duration during my last high key as an Armour MP but you came across to me as a fine commander with a composed attitude who could still have so much more to achieve in your life. Sorry to see you go but may God bless you and your family. RIP my MP brother.

Thank you for being part of our team. We are really honoured to have you with us. Although just a short one year, your high level of energy, your meticulousness, your perfectionism, changed the way we do things for the better. You were such an influencer, a true brother in arms, forever lead by example, and never gave up. Now that you are in paradise, there's no more illness and sufferings. But you still got a job to do, is to be an angel, guiding your love ones, and protecting them forever.

Garret, your enthusiasm and smiles and laughter never failed to amaze me and you can make even the most serious moment seem trivial. It's really a shock and has made all of us question what we could have done to help you. We will never forget you. Hope you are free of all your earthly troubles. God bless your soul

Your passing just came too suddenly... Although our paths have barely crossed since 2012, I’ll always remember your jovial and fun nature. During our Military Tattoo trip to Moscow, you were the “commando” photographer who was always able to sneak into strategic places to take great photos of the show. And I will always remember the instant noodle you have voluntarily cooked for me in your hotel room when I returned late after meeting without dinner. Although you have left us, what you have left behind are fond memories of you as a great person. I still have no idea what took you away, but I hope you are now at a better place...

Garret, I remembered you as a fine soldier and an outstanding leader. You are always positive and trusted even in hard times, and your peers respected that and followed you.

As I sit in office and reflect back on whatever happened a couple of days, there's so much I want to say to you but you aren't around to hear me. Everything happened too fast and it has still not sunken in for many of us
We knew one another back in 2009 when we were posted to Military Police Training School for our MP Specialist Course after completion of our BMT. I can still recall the days we shed blood, sweat and tears during training. I wasn't a regular back then and I kept asking you why you decided to sign on so that I could also find a reason and the purpose to do the same.
After our course days, our paths didn't really cross in terms of the units we were posted to but we always have a hearty chat whenever we bummed into one another in camp or during command events. You were always that Soldier who was firm with your trainees yet so very compassionate. You demanded standards and role modeled them. Something not every Commander is able to do. Most trainees called you a tyrant but after their graduation, they understood the reason behind your actions.
I fondly recalled the short stint we had in MPTS with your favorite MR boys, Russell and Ben. The MR office was a joyful place where we trolled many and laughed out loud, destressing in the middle of a hectic day. I appreciate your kind support for the dance competitions I participated in. You always spoke highly of me brother. Thank you so very much
When you were in SSP, your fitness amazed me and I was very inspired. When we met again in GS Br during your VA, you were my source of comfort in the midst of everything I was going through. You motivated me and told me not to give up and constantly pushed me to move forward. You were that bunk mate/confidante whom I shared work and personal matters with. I wish you had opened up more to me Brother and I would have done anything to help you out of whatever you were struggling with
WO Garret, you are a Ranger. The most charismatic , fittest, handsome, intelligent and coolest Ranger I have ever known. Death scares all of us and you courageously knocked on its doors. Up till now, I don't know why you took such a decision, but I choose to respect it. I only hope and pray that your find the peace and happiness which you couldn't find here. As I walk around Mowbray Camp, I reminisce our days in Army, with my Rifle and you. Your memories and cheerful smile will stay deeply etched in my heart and mind. I will always be proud of you and its an honour knowing you, Garret

My bro, my buddy, my friend. It took me a few days to realise how important you are...to me. Everything will not be the same now but I truly hope you find peace regardless of where you are. I’ll talk to you through my prayers.
Tim Siow
Dear Garret,
It has been about a week since you left us, and it's still so surreal. I always hoped that our paths would cross again some day. Little did I know that things would end up this way. But I truly hope you have found peace.
Before I met you, I had heard many stories from people around camp about this legendary Staff Sergeant who had a nasty reputation, going around scolding and punishing people for the smallest of reasons. I think some people even thought you were crazy (which knowing you, might be something you were proud of haha). It made me so nervous at the time because after basic training course, I definitely did not want another commander breathing down my neck.
But as it turned out, you were one of the nicest and coolest persons I've met in my life. You were funny, generous and full of positive energy. Your smile and laughter were definitely your strongest weapons. You could easily disarm anyone with your witty jokes and charisma. You made my life in army that much more fun and enjoyable, along with everyone else in the MR team. On top of that, I'm sure you brought a lot of joy and laughter to all those around you wherever you went. I will forever be grateful to have known you as a friend.
You also had this strong, glowing aura around you that made you almost invincible, achieving any goal you set your mind to. And that unbreakable mentality made sure you carried out your tasks (whether it be design related or your military duties) to the highest standards, even if it meant putting your own wellbeing to the side. And that is something that also left a huge impression on me, that you could be just as serious when the situation needed you to be.
I initially intended this message to be short and sweet but there are just so many things to say about you, Garret. So many memories and fun times, I'm sure I'm only barely scratching the surface. It hurts that it's too late to tell you all of this in person, but I am still thankful that I not only got to meet you but had the opportunity to work closely with you for a period of my life.
Rest well, brother.
My deepest condolences to your family and loved ones.
Russell Ong
Thank you for the friendship bro. I know you're in a better place now. I'm sure you will be deeply missed by family, friends and colleagues.
It was really great to know such a professional and friendly man.
Deepest condolences to Garret's loved ones and May u rest in peace bro.
Jayson
Though we've known each other since 2012 when I first got posted to MP Comd, we hardly interacted. It was till 2016 when we signed up for ranger course, that we train together, force-prep together and learn together. The days we spent together during ranger course, pushing ourselves to the limit and never giving up, no matter how hard it got. Yet, at the same time, everyday telling each other "我不要玩了, report sick" but our report sick didn't happen.
I will always remember the good times we shared and the laughs we had. You were not only a fellow soldier but also a brother in arms, and your absence will be deeply felt by all who knew you.
